Leisure Cycling Trip to Malaysia

Studies have shown that riding a bicycle everyday
makes you more awesome than the general population -unknown

At the beginning of 2014, I was thinking what I should do to bring my friends together before my trip. After thinking for a few days, I thought of bringing them to have a taste of how cycling is like in Malaysia. It will be awesome! I remember my first cycling experience in Malaysia goes all the way back to 2009 with a group of friends. It was hell lot of fun but dangerous as well. Ever since then, it became a must-go-once a-year trip until I enlisted into army in 2012.

The reasons behind this trip is to go to the outdoor and have fun, to have a feel of what it is like to cycle along the Eastern Coastline of Malaysia. The distance is short, a total of 30km from Pengerang Jetty to Kampung Sungai Rengit  and back in a day. How do we get to Pengerang Jetty from Singapore? We will take a wooden boat from Changi Jetty. If you want to know more about Sungai Rengit, please check out Calvin Teo’s blog here

So, there’s a few criteria to meet in order for me to bring my friends along, such as

  • House location
  • Need to have own your bicycle & helmet
  • Need to be confident to ride on the road with heavy traffic
  • Able to cycle at least 30km comfortably

My apologies to all my pro cyclist friends, this trip is not suitable for you guys =)

The first trip started in late March, and will be on-going until the next two months. There were times when we need to wait due to insufficient people to fill numbers on the boat or there’s not enough boats for everyone. Overall, all the trips were successful =)
